Frequently Asked Questions
I’m registering to vote for the first time — what do I need?
You must be a U.S. citizen, a Florida resident, a Hillsborough County resident, and at least 18 to vote (16 to pre-register). You’ll need your Florida driver license/ID number or the last 4 digits of your SSN to register online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.
I just moved to Hillsborough County — do I need to update anything?
Yes — update your address at https://www.votehillsborough.gov/163/Register-or-Update-Information. This also determines your correct precinct and polling place.
How do I change my party affiliation?
Submit an updated voter registration application through Hillsborough County’s Register or Update Information page — the same form is used for registering, updating your address, and changing your party. For the November 3 General Election, the deadline to change party is October 5, 2026.
What ID do I need to bring to vote in person?
A current, valid photo ID with your signature — a Florida driver license or ID card, U.S. passport, military ID, and student ID are all accepted, among others. No acceptable ID? You can still vote a provisional ballot.
How do I find my polling place?
Go to https://www.votehillsborough.gov/159/Voting-Precincts — note that your Election Day location can differ from Early Voting sites.
Can I see what will be on my ballot before Election Day?
Yes — go to https://www.votehillsborough.gov/180/On-the-Ballot to preview your specific ballot.
